Our Editorial Policy
We write short emails about things most people believe that turn out to be wrong. We aim to surprise you, make you laugh, and leave you knowing something true.
Each story's web address carries its issue date. The byline shows when the story was first published and, if it has been revised since, when it was last updated.
Where the facts come from
Every issue starts from one or more published sources, and the facts in it come from those sources. Each issue names its sources.
Where the surprise comes from
The surprise at the heart of each issue comes from its source.
How issues are made
Every issue goes through an editorial review and a fact-check against the sources it names before it is published. Each batch is checked claim by claim against those sources, and we rewrite or remove anything a source does not support.
Health and safety
Issues about the body, illness, food, drugs or first aid report history and named, dated research findings only. That rule covers the story, the question, the answer, the home-page sample and the share preview. Before an issue is published, any claim its sources do not support is cut, and no issue tells a reader what to take, eat or do.
The Site Does Not Provide Medical Advice
Our emails and websites are for information and entertainment only. They are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have about a medical condition. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay in seeking it because of something you read from us. If you think you may have a medical emergency, call your doctor or 911 immediately.
Corrections
We stand behind what we publish, and we want to hear when we get something wrong. If you spot an error, write to support@healthdebunk.com and name the issue. We read every report and fix what is wrong.
